CHOCOLATE PEANUT PROTEIN CANDY BARS (VEGAN)
These Chocolate Peanut Protein Candy Bars combine creamy peanut butter and decadent chocolate with a boost of plant-based protein! These protein candy bars are also gluten-free, dairy-free, and lower in sugar with wholesome, easy-to-find ingredients. My kids kept asking for them until they were all gone! The whole family loved these protein treats, and I love that they're no-bake ;)
Did you know? Pea protein contains all nine essential amino acids that your body cannot create and must get from food. Pea protein is a bit low in methionine, but oats are a great source you can add to balance that!
Protein recommendation
For these Chocolate Peanut Protein Candy Bars, I used LIV Body Lean Vegan Protein in Chocolate Peanut Butter flavor. It's the perfect flavor for this recipe! With that said, any complementary flavor will work here (think chocolate, vanilla, peanut butter). I love that LIV Body Lean Vegan Protein has no artificial ingredients and is gluten-free, non-GMO and low in carbs and fats. Use my code "SARAHWILKINS" for free shipping on all LIV Body orders!
You should be able to substitute another plant-based protein here! Just keep in mind that protein powders vary in absorbency so you may need to increase or decrease the amount of milk or water used. Whey protein may require adding some coconut flour for more absorbency. Collagen protein would be much too sticky in this recipe!
Wet ingredients
This protein candy bar recipe also calls for chocolate, creamy peanut butter, almond milk, maple syrup, and salt.
For the chocolate, I prefer dairy free "milk" chocolate, but you can use any dairy-free chocolate or just regular milk chocolate. You can even use sugar free milk chocolate!
If you can't have peanut butter, feel free to swap it out for cashew butter or sunflower seed butter. The maple syrup can also be swapped for honey or sugar free pancake syrup!
Optional add-ins
I opted to add a few peanut butter candies (like Reese's pieces), but you can also add salted peanuts or mini chocolate chips for a little extra crunch! The candies made these absolutely irresistible.
