GLAZED STRAWBERRY PROTEIN DONUTS

Mother's Day is in just a couple days, and I am celebrating early with these Glazed Strawberry Protein Donuts! I just love donuts and strawberries might be my favorite fruit (hard to decide though)! These donuts gluten-free, dairy-free, and easily made vegan. You might also like my Blueberry Glazed Protein Donuts!

Did you know? Many studies have shown that berries are beneficial for heart health. Berries may improve HDL (good) cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood platelet function (source).

Protein recommendations

As with many of my recipes, I used vegan protein instead of whey. My favorite vegan protein is LIV Body Lean Vegan Protein. For these strawberry protein donuts, I couldn't think of a better flavor than Strawberry Milkshake! Feel free to use my code NOEXCUSES for 20% off all Liv Body products.

Another vegan protein powder *should* work in this recipe, but may alter the taste and texture. I haven’t tested this recipe with whey, but in my experience, whey blends work much better than whey isolate.

If you don’t have protein powder, you can substitute half a cup of gluten-free baking flour (60 grams).

Flour recommendations

This recipe uses a combination of gluten-free baking flour and coconut flour. Feel free to swap the coconut flour for twice as much gluten-free baking flour. Or, any of the following flours should also work: all-purpose flour, cake flour, fine oat flour, sorghum flour, white whole wheat flour, or cassava flour.

Sweetener recommendations

To sweeten these donuts, I used my favorite organic stevia blend. It’s twice as sweet as sugar with no bitter aftertaste! Feel free to substitute twice as much granulated monk fruit, granulated erythritol, or baking stevia.

Other ingredients

For an irresistible moist texture, I added plain dairy-free yogurt and a teeny bit of vegan buttery spread. Feel free to sub plain Greek yogurt instead of the dairy-free yogurt, or coconut oil in place of the buttery spread! I used egg white in the pictured version, but you can totally substitute two flax eggs (two tablespoons of ground flax plus one-quarter cup warm water) or an equivalent amount of vegan egg replacer.

The strawberry flavor comes from half a cup of mashed strawberries. It really enhances the strawberry flavor from the protein and I love running into strawberry bits in my donut ;)

Sugar free vanilla glaze

For the vanilla glaze, I combined calorie-free powdered monk fruit sweetener, unsweetened almond milk, and vegan buttery spread. Powdered sugar will also work in place of the monk fruit, but adds about 40 calories and 10 grams of carbs per donut.

Here’s the printable recipe for these Glazed Strawberry Protein Donuts! I hope you’ll rate this recipe and comment below if you try 🙂
